ILO helped increase effectiveness of tripartite and bipartite social dialogue through a project which started implementation in 2016.The project called: Increased Effectiveness of Tripartite and Bipartite Social Dialogue, including Collective Bargaining and Dispute Resolution aimed to increase and promote the culture of social dialogue in Albania, with a focus on amicable resolution of labor disputes.
The project contributed to enhance the institutional and technical capacity of social dialogue institutions and supported the tripartite constituents in the implementation of the provisions of the labor code regarding social dialogue, collective bargaining and dispute resolution, as well as improving the state mechanism for amicable settlement of collective labor disputes.
The Project provided support in a many front such as through provision of technical advice on developing a tripartite action plan to enhance social dialogue, collective bargaining and amicable resolution of collective labor disputes; facilitating and encouraging tripartite negotiations and providing technical assistance in relation to establishment of objective representativeness criteria of the social partners for participation in tripartite social dialogue. Project support was also focused on provision of technical advice on assessing the national and regional labor dispute mediation services by examining the existing systems and developing a set of recommendations to increase the effectiveness of alternative resolution of labor disputes.
An important project component focused on building the capacity of tripartite constituents to engage in social dialogue and collective bargaining and to prevent, mediate and conciliate labor disputes.
