Durrës, 9 September 2019: “Investing in human capital is one of three ‘accelerators’ for the Sustainable Development Goals in Albania” said the UN’s Resident Coordinator in Albania, Brian Williams, addressing the participants of the Skills for Jobs Academy dedicated to Human Capital Development in Albania and the Role of Vocational Education and Training (VET). The project is being implemented by Swisscontact in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance and Economy with funding from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation - SDC.

In a panel with distinguished speakers, the top UN official in Albania emphasized the importance of increasing investment in education to achieving more info-technology in schools, more training of teachers for modern student-inquiry-problem-solving learning, and ultimately, to achieving inclusive education for all. To this end, Mr. Williams noted the contribution of the UN Agencies in Albania to help improve access to and quality of education, including vocational education and training.
